About Me

Hello Readers And Welcome to my Wildlife Blog.

My name is Gary and im located in the beautiful County of Staffordshire on the edge of Cannock Chase.
I am originally from Manchester, Burnage to be exact, remember oasis the band, well within half a mile of there home where the band formed. Great place but i wanted to move to a more rural location so 10 years on im here.
I work in the photographic trade in the week, ( 3 days) and at the weekend i deliver hot meals to the elderly in and around Staffordshire which i really enjoy, some of these people dont see anyone until i arrive and a short chat and a smile goes a long way...

About my local patch Cannock Chase.

Cannock Chase is located between Rugeley and Stafford and comprises of a mixture of natural deciduous woodland, coniferous plantations, and open heathland. Cannock Chase was designated as an Area of outstanding natural beauty(AONB) in 1958 and is the smallest area so designated in mainland Britain, covering (26 sq mi). Much of the area is also designated as a Site of special scientific interest (SSSI).
The chase provides a wide range of landscape and wildlife, including a herd of around 800 fallow deer and a number of rare and endangered birds, and views of birds such as brambling, yellowhammer, bullfinch and hawfinch are just a few. If you ever get the chance to visit then i really recommend you take a look, its beautiful and plenty of nature to see on your walks.
